Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Full Day Tour

At the agreed-upon time, we will pick you up from your hotel (we recommend spending at least one day acclimatizing in Cusco before starting this tour). Once the entire group is assembled (maximum 16 people), we will head south from Cusco for about 2.5 hours until we reach the Pitumarca district.

There, you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by our chefs. After a short break, you can purchase snacks like sweets, chocolates, water, or cookies before continuing toward Combapata.

Before arriving in town, we’ll stop to take photos of Combapata’s colonial bridge. Then, we’ll embark on a 1.5-hour walk along the left bank of the Salcca River, following a dirt trail.

Along the way, you’ll spot native alpacas against stunning mountain scenery before finally reaching the Palccoyo community, situated at 4,100 meters. Here, you’ll have breathtaking views of the vibrant Palccoyo mountain range, featuring three distinct colored mountains, as well as the impressive stone forest.

This tour is ideal for those who prefer minimal walking. The guide will offer an optional 40-minute hike to higher viewpoints for the best panoramas of the three rainbow mountains and the rocky valley. After 2–3 hours of exploration, we’ll return to Cusco by van along the same route, stopping for lunch in Pitumarca. We’ll arrive back in Cusco around 6:30 PM and drop you off at your hotel or nearby.
