Embark on the 2-day ‘Trek Humantay Lake & Salkantay Pass’ for an unforgettable adventure in the Peruvian Andes. Starting in Cusco, hike through stunning mountain scenery to Soraypampa, where you’ll stay at the exclusive Sky Camp with views of Salkantay and Humantay peaks. On day one, enjoy a moderate hike to the turquoise Humantay Lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. After dinner under the stars, sleep in a transparent-roofed igloo, gazing at the constellations.

Day two takes you along the challenging ‘Trail of the 7 Snakes’ to Salkantay Pass, the trek’s highest point at 4,630 meters. Marvel at unique rock formations, sweeping mountain vistas, and lush valleys. After lunch at camp, return to Cusco, ending this rewarding Andean adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable memories.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco > Challacancha > Soraypampa > Humantay Lake > Sky Camp

Your thrilling 2-day adventure begins early in the morning as your tour guide and driver pick you up from your Cusco accommodation. The first stop is Mollepata for a hearty breakfast, followed by a drive to Challacancha for a short rest. From here, we’ll start our hike to Soraypampa, a gentle trek that helps you acclimate to the altitude. Along the way, you’ll follow an ancient Inca canal and soak in the stunning Andean landscapes.

Upon arriving at Sky Camp, nestled in front of the majestic Salkantay and Humantay mountains, you’ll be greeted with a delicious lunch. Take time to relax in your igloo or explore the surroundings before our afternoon hike. We’ll ascend to Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,780 ft), taking it slow to adjust to the altitude. At the top, you’ll marvel at the turquoise jewel of a lake set against a snowy backdrop.

Afterward, return to Sky Camp for a delightful dinner and an evening of stargazing. Your guide will share fascinating insights into Inca astronomy. As you settle into your igloo, gaze through the transparent roof and let the constellations lull you to sleep.

Conquer the Trail of the Seven Snakes! Today is the highlight of your journey as you reach the trek’s highest point, surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll gradually ascend to Salkantaypampa and then tackle the challenging “Trail of the 7 Snakes,” leading to the impressive Salkantay Pass at 4,630 m / 15,190 ft. Take time to capture unforgettable photos and soak in the awe-inspiring views of snow-capped peaks and the raw power of nature.

Descend through unique rocky terrain to our campsite for a well-earned lunch. Along the way, you’ll glimpse a vast forest of snow-covered stones. Every step rewards you with stunning vistas. After lunch at Sky Camp, enjoy a short break before a 30-minute walk to our transport. This final stretch offers endless photo opportunities of valleys, rivers, mountains, and farming fields.

We’ll then return to Cusco, dropping you off at your accommodation for some well-deserved rest after an unforgettable adventure.
